BREAKING: Extinction Rebellion Youth block Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol, asking ‘will you listen to us now?’
Two members of Extinction Rebellion Youth (XR Youth) - Charlie Siret, 19, who is studying at the University of Bristol and Fern, 18, who has just completed her A-Levels and did not wish to give her surname - have blocked the iconic Bristol landmark. The two young women are locked together with an ‘arm lock’ and are lying in the road on the bridge. They expect to spend the night there and will be joined by more members of XR Youth in the morning. This comes during the leadup to a two week rebellion in Cardiff, London and Manchester starting on the 1st of September.

Time(s) to stop misleading the public on the devastating scale of climate risk
Here we go again. Further seeds of doubt have been sown today by the Times in a piece titled “Baseless climate warnings wiped from Extinction Rebellion film” undermining the stark risks we face from climate breakdown.[1]

Beginning Friday August 28, Extinction Rebellion’s ‘Countdown to Rebellion’ will kick off in towns and cities across the UK. The weekend will be filled with creative, nonviolent direct action to draw attention to the greatest existential threat we face - the climate and ecological emergency. People up and down the country will come together in their communities to tell the government that, frankly, we’ve had enough of them putting us all at risk.

You can’t put a spin on physics – Extinction Rebellion UK Response to Rishi Sunak’s green jobs package.
We must be clear that this plan will not protect us and it demonstrates that although Rishi Sunak is capable of addressing an immediate crisis, he is unwilling to make the broad reaching, long term changes that are needed for planetary repair. Coronavirus has shown us that this government is willing to delay and cause the unnecessary deaths of tens of thousands of people. The numbers will be far larger if we let them get away with this one.
