Co-liberation and Justice in XRUK

The XR community in the UK has begun a process to ask deep questions about our demands and issues relating to justice. There have been lots of groups and individuals active in furthering these conversations and the project, Justice within XR UK (combining two working groups, XR UK Rebel Hive Justice and XR Co-Liberation Project) is in motion. We are also aware of all the work of our affinity groups and local groups, asking important questions about oppression, justice and solidarity.  We want to thank all rebels for their open hearted responses. The project will be led by a…

Further clarity on XRUK and the Beyond Politics party

Following actions this week at Amnesty, Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth and Christian Aid by the new political party, Beyond Politics, XRUK would like to restate that Beyond Politics are a separate organisation and not a part of Extinction Rebellion.  We also would like to be clear that Roger Hallam no longer has a formal role in XRUK.  We would also like to clarify that members of Extinction Rebellion are welcome to be part of other parties and groups but must not use XR resources for these purposes. It is clear that many are frustrated by what happened this week,…

Goodbye rebellion.earth. Hello extinctionrebellion.uk!

The Extinction Rebellion UK website has recently changed its domain from rebellion.earth to extinctionrebellion.uk. We hope this will make clear its role as the XR UK website, while distinguishing it from other national XR websites and the XR global site rebellion.global. Any rebellion.earth URLs will redirect correspondingly to extinctionrebellion.uk for the foreseeable future. If you use rebellion.earth URLs in your email signature, in communications or on websites, they will therefore remain active for some time, but we advise you to change to extinctionrebellion.uk URLs as soon as possible. If you have an @rebellion.earth email address, this will be unaffected…

Get ready for Rebellion 🔥 – UK Updates 1

(Sign up to the newsletter here) Dear rebels, The Rebellion is coming. 2020 is a year of multiple crises and a Government that is failing to keep us safe. They ignored the warnings about coronavirus. Now they’re ignoring warnings of a 4ËšC warmer world from the Committee on Climate Change, a warning that could result in billions of deaths – with marginalised communities and those in the Global South on the front line. Right now, our Government is bailing out big banks, big oil and climate destroyers with zero commitments to people and…

(Sign up to the Newsletter here) Dear rebels, Exciting times on the frontlines of change. XRUK has announced the next UK Rebellion. No, Extinction Rebellion have not set up a political party

We’ve seen a couple of stories hit the news this week about people who are or were involved in Extinction Rebellion beginning new projects and using their connection to the movement as a way of launching those projects. Rather than adding to the many opinions within the movement about the value of these, we’re going to use our energy to continue organising towards a society that is acting on the climate and ecological emergency and leave these people to do non-XR work like setting up political parties and so on, if that’s what they feel is the best use of…

Global Newsletter #40: The World Is Still Sick

Dear rebels, Many countries may now be coming out of quarantine, but the world is still sick. Now, more than ever, it’s time to rebel. The last few weeks have seen a near-endless parade of atrocities which only serve to highlight the injustices and social inequalities of our time. This statement from XRISN focuses on the need for XR to be an ‘umbrella canopy’ with diversity and freedom at its core. Ultimately, it is our duty as rebels (and as human beings) to work toward making the world a safer, fairer, and greener place. Yet amid all…
