At 10:30 AM on Wednesday 19th May, a group of scientists from Extinction Rebellion locked themselves to a mechanical tree in the Science Museum, the centerpiece of the Shell sponsored Our Future Planet exhibition. The group, who used bicycle cables and D-locks to lock themselves inside the exhibit on the opening day, explained that the decision by the Science Museum Group to continue to accept Shell sponsorship gives legitimacy to the fossil fuel giant’s planetary destruction. The group took great care not to damage the exhibit and to respect safety regulations.

Monday 12 April 2021, London, UK: Seven people - including two Extinction Rebellion co-founders - charged with £25K worth of criminal damage at Shell’s London HQ will appear at Southwark Crown Court in London for a jury trial.  Dubbed the ‘Shell 7’, this is the second jury trial of an Extinction Rebellion related case and comes almost two years to the day since Shell was the focus of non violent direct action when Extinction Rebellion’s April Rebellion in 2019 began.

Extinction Rebellion has launched a LinkedIn ad campaign targeting ex-employees from climate-damaging companies, inviting them to share insider information through its whistleblowing platform TruthTeller.Life.
Outside Shell HQ on London’s Southbank this morning, Extinction Rebellion held an action in solidarity with those lost, sending a message to the oil titan that their actions must not be forgotten. A small group erected a protest tripod at the building’s entrance where a single person dressed as a Shell executive sat on top. A noose was hung from the tripod and had oil poured down it to symbolise the brutality of the murders.
