At 2:30 pm on Wednesday August 17th two doctors unfurled a huge banner at Lords Cricket ground, during the first day of the Test Match between England and South Africa, reading ‘JP Morgan: Stop Bankrolling New Oil and Gas’. The banner drop was the 5th major protest in the last 12 months by Doctors for Extinction Rebellion against JP Morgan Chase - the biggest financier of fossil fuels in the world, and the principal sponsor of Lord’s cricket ground.

BREAKING: Extinction Rebellion break glass at News UK, as nation hits its highest temperature on record

At 6:30am this morning, 2 people from Extinction Rebellion carefully cracked 2 windows at the entrance of the News UK building at London Bridge. At the same time, 4 others - including 1 scientist - chalk sprayed “TELL THE TRUTH” and “40 DEGREES = DEATH” on the front of the building, and pasted recent copies of The Sun headlines about the heatwave onto windows. Special care was taken to ensure no one was hurt when the windows were cracked.

UPDATE: GPs released from police custody on eve of UK’s hottest day

At around 10pm last night six healthcare professionals were released under investigation from Fresh Wharf Custody Base in Barking where they had been held since Sunday morning. The group from Doctors for XR included two GPs, a child and adolescent mental health specialist, a gynecologist, a consultant psychiatrist and a dementia nurse. They were held in police custody after carefully cracking eight panes of glass at financial services giant and investment bank JP Morgan’s offices in Canary Wharf at 10 am on Sunday July 17th.

Doctors for XR crack glass at JP Morgan as UK declares heatwave ‘national emergency’

This morning at 10 am six members of Doctors for XR carefully cracked eight panes of glass at financial services giant and investment bank JP Morgan’s offices in Canary Wharf. The group included two GPs, a child and adolescent mental health specialist, a gynecologist, a consultant psychiatrist and a dementia nurse. The medics placed stickers on the windows reading ‘in case of medical climate emergency break glass’ before carefully cracking the panes of glass near the entrance to the building.

Rainbow Rebellion takes to the streets of
Soho, London, to demand action on

The group occupied Old Compton Street with a giant rainbow dildo, followed by an afternoon of speeches, music, art, games, and cake, which is ongoing with plans into the evening.

Health Professionals glue on outside Downing Street calling for an end to fossil fuels

At 2.30pm today, 60 health professionals sat down in front of the gates outside Downing Street. Some members performed an unsuccessful ‘resuscitation’ of a 4 foot Earth on a stretcher. Following this 10 health professionals remained in front of the gates and ‘glued on’, whilst their colleagues held banners saying ‘For Health’s Sake Stop Financing Fossil Fuels’ and ‘Fossil Fuels are a Dead End’.

Charity Status of Climate Denialism Group a Joke say Extinction Rebellion and Green Coalition

This morning at 10am, a group of writers, scientists, activists and a baroness will gather in Tufton Street on the doorstep of the notorious climate-denial group The Global Warming Policy Foundation (GWPF). They will then proceed to the Charity Commission with an official complaint demanding that the group be stripped of its charity status and then filed the complaint with the Charity Commission.
