Extinction Rebellion UK statement on strike at Fawley Oil Refinery

Extinction Rebellion UK stands in solidarity with the 100 or more workers at Fawley Oil Refinery who will be taking strike action on 8th April. The strike is in response to the offer of a “pathetic” 2.5 per cent pay offer and a lack of company sick pay, despite Exxon’s profits in 2021 topping an eye-watering £6.75 billion.

2022: The year the movement of movements aligns to end fossil fuels

Newsletter February 2022

Last month's Newsletter featured a review of the year but this month we are unashamedly looking forward. The new XR Strategy has been unveiled across the movement’s platforms and toured the UK with Zoom calls and well attended face-to-face meetings. The response has been amazing: rebels fired up to build the movement and get ready for the first rebellion of the year beginning on 9th April.

First XR jury trial of 2022 begins for Shadwell 3

The trial is underway for three XR members who stopped a DLR train at Shadwell station in 2019. Phil Kingston, 85, Reverend Sue Parfitt, 79 and Father Martin Newell, 54 will argue the action was a proportionate response to the escalating climate crisis and a lawful protest under the Human Rights Act.
