As Insure Our Survival begins a new chapter as an independent campaign, we look back with gratitude at what we achieved together – and ahead to what comes next in the fight for a livable future.
When we launched Insure Our Survival, we knew the insurance industry was quietly enabling the destruction of our future. Fossil fuel projects can’t go ahead without insurance – so we decided to shine a light where few had looked before.
From the streets of London to local high streets across the UK, hundreds of people joined Extinction Rebellion in calling on insurers to stop backing climate collapse. It was a campaign built on courage, creativity, and community spirit, proof that ordinary people can confront powerful institutions with honesty and hope.
What We Achieved Together
We saw dozens of local XR groups join forces and hundreds take to the streets in coordinated national days of action [insert verified stat or figure]. Together, we put insurers like Lloyd’s of London, Zurich, and Chubb under pressure to withdraw from fossil fuel projects.
