Accessibility
Accessibility at the Restore Nature Now march and rally
Viewing areas
There will be a block at the front of the march for people who wish to access viewing areas. People who need to be in this block are welcome to join with friends. All are welcome anywhere throughout the march.
At Park Lane assembly point, the front block will have an accessible viewing area for the platform with speakers and BSL interpreters.
The main stage in Parliament Square will have an accessible viewing area. The BSL interpreter will be visible on the stage and on digital screens.
There will be a second accessible viewing area at the Cenotaph of a big screen (for when the march/rally extends down WhiteHall).
The route
The main route is approximately 2.5 miles long, and is level access until Parliament Square, where there are ramps to access the grass area.
There is an alternative shorter flat access route of 0.4 miles. It starts at Whitehall Place. Assemble at 1pm.
Toilets
Accessible toilets can be found at Hyde Park – Bandstand, in Café Farzil on Haymarket (please note: this is not for general use) and in the Wesley Café, Storey’s Gate Westminster.
View our full interactive Restore Nature Now map, toilets are marked with the blue pins.
Support
Buddies are available to arrange in advance, see contact below. Examples of support are:
- being accompanied from a bus or train to the start of either the main or short route
- being provided with a manual wheelchair and stewards to push when a rest is needed
A welfare team will be present at the march.
All stewards will be briefed on accessibility and have access to the map showing accessible toilets. If a steward is unable to support your needs on the day, you or they can telephone Sian on 07773 193704.
Power chairs and scooters
If you use a power chair or scooter, please try to start the march with as well charged battery as possible. There may be some facility for battery charging at the Cenotaph on Whitehall. Please note, this has not yet been confirmed and will be subject to weather for safety reasons.
Charging points for mobility aids are available at Café Farzil, 8 Haymarket, and at Wesley Café, Storey’s Gate Westminster.
Quiet zone
There will be a quite space at Café Farzil, 8 Haymarket. We ask that people who truly require this use this space as quiet zone, as we do not want to overcrowd the café. Thank you so much for your consideration.
