Hollie Andrews, 21, student from Leeds
Hollie, who is studying sustainability and environmental management and is originally from West Sussex, was arrested on 10th October 2019 at the London City Airport action during the 2019 October Rebellion. She was charged with Obstruction of the Highway, tried on 16th January 2021 at City of London Magistrates’ Court and acquitted due to the prosecution’s failure to prove she was on a public road. She was arrested again on 16th October 2019 during the XR Youth action at YouTube’s office in Kings Cross. She was charged for aggrevated trespass but the charges were dropped because of a technicality with her arrest.
“I take part in direct action because I refuse to be a passive bystander to the capitalist destruction of the environment and communities. Taking part in activism with like-minded people is the only thing that gives me hope for the future.”
Holly was quoted in The Guardian after the YouTube action, which was also covered by Time and Metro.
