Extinction Rebellion is a peaceful international movement addressing the climate crisis through mass non violent direct action (NVDA). Our aim is to achieve structural change in an attempt to reduce the likelihood of human extinction and ecological collapse.
In this NVDA training you will find out how to take part in Extinction Rebellion actions. The training will cover the practice of non-violent techniques: showing you how to de-escalate tense situations, how to interact with the police, what to do if you get arrested and much more.
The training takes c.3 hours so please bring some food, drinks and feel free to bring vegetarian or vegan snacks to share. It will be more enjoyable if you aren’t thinking about how hungry you are!
There is a kettle and mugs at the venue for hot or cold drinks.
Please email xr.southwark@gmail.com if you have any questions or need to cancel.
The session is free but for those who are able to contribute £1 or £2 towards the hire of the venue, it would be much appreciated and help us to continue advertising these sessions free to all.
Accessibility: The venue is completely wheelchair accessible with a ramp access, handrail and accessible toilets. The venue is all on one level. Contact via gmail if you have any accessibility requirements.
The next International Rebellion begins in April 2020 in capital cities across the world. In the build there will be an escalation of civil disobedience across the capital. We need everyone to participate, so please encourage your friends, family, neighbours and colleagues to come along to NVDA training.
