16:00 – 19:00
Scottish Borders, Scottish Borders, United Kingdom
Extinction Rebellion Glasgow
Extinction Rebellion Scotland are heading for the hills to plant loads of trees with the Borders Forest Trust! They are an excellent charity that is working to rewild large swathes of the borders with native tree species. They’ve already rewilded over 3000 hectares! Here is there website: https://bordersforesttrust.org/
Please share to friends, all welcome. Those with accessibility issues may struggle to plant trees, but likely can help in logistics if their energy allows.
Other than volunteering our time for this excellent cause, the weekend will serve as a regenerative action that connects us back to the land.
Expect tree-planting, camping, cooking together, singing and music, a couple beers, story time around a fire, and any other things we wish! Facilities will be very basic (no showers and either outdoor or composting toilet), but it will be a great time!
Arrive from Friday evening – 20th, leave Sunday evening 22nd September. (people can also arrive on the Saturday morning if their scheduling doesn’t permit the friday.)
Food will be provided on Saturday all day and Sunday until a late lunch/early dinner, but exact schedule is being figured out. we might provide a late meal on friday night – TBC.
Hopefully the only money that people will have to spend is getting there! car-sharing is strongly advised also as it fairly remote. We will generate a ride-share document in the coming days.
Therefore if people want to donate some money, it would be great to have that go directly to the forest trust to get more trees in the ground.
EVENT IS NOW FULLY SUBSCRIBED. Link below will not accept further registrations. Apologies, and we will hopefully repeat the event in coming months!
