Women’s Resistence for Climate Action

12 October 2019
14:00 - 16:00

Marble Arch, London, United Kingdom

hosted by

Mothers rise up

Come join our contingent! Gather 1.30pm for 2pm start. Anticipated finish 4pm

WHY: Women, the primary carers everywhere, have been leading the resistance to climate change, protecting precious land from mining, deforestation, water poisoning and cash crops.

WHO: XR Movement of Movements initiative is bringing together protest groups from the Global South, international networks and local women’s groups including Birthstrike, English Collective of Prostitutes, Women of Colour in the Global Women’s Strike, Global Women’s Strike, All African Women’s Group and Mothers Rise Up. Together we will create a force to make visible the unique contribution of women and communities from the Global South to the climate crisis movement.

WHEN: Saturday 12 October, the Day of Indigenous Resistance, marks the landing of Columbus in the Americas in 1492, unleashing the genocide and enslavement of Indigenous people and a new imperialism. The climate emergency is already causing death and destruction, especially in the Global South and increasingly people are organising massively to stop it. We will unite as one, speak out and be heard…..

WHERE: We will start alongside the Extinction Rebellion Grief and Resistance March at MARBLE ARCH and march to Russel Square. Then we will leave the XR march and move to SOAS to join in and celebrate Indigenous People’s Day.
