On 8th December James Brown is appealing both his conviction and his sentencing at the Royal Courts of Justice via video link from HMP Wandsworth, where he is currently serving his sentence.
James Brown, a father, a gold winning paralympian, a concerned citizen, a blind man, a climate activist, peacefully climbed onto an aircraft at London City Airport in October 2019. In July 2021 a jury found him guilty of public nuisance, and the judge gave James a 12 month prison sentence.
Of the thousands of Extinction Rebellion protestors who have spent time in police cells, courts, on remand, and the thousands more who have taken action and not been arrested, James Brown was the first to be given a custodial sentence.
Gather outside the Royal Courts of Justice at 9am, where we will show James our support for him, and make clear to the courts that he should be released, and his conviction overturned.
Please wear black, and bring a pink hi vis vest if you have one.
