Emotional Support

hosted by

Extinction Rebellion Regenerative Culture

Nurture a spark to reignite your passion!

Activism is demanding work that can take a lot out of us – time, energy, finances, emotions. Our work is so important, and we can’t sustain it if we’re burnt out.

Especially in a time when we invest so much of ourselves, perhaps placing even a little hope in COP26, it can be heart-breaking when reality doesn’t meet our expectations. That’s normal. And it helps to process this in a group, to know we’re not alone.

Join this workshop to discover your own activist path, receive tools to support you, and resource yourself to keep you moving in the way that is right for you.

This is a 2-part workshop, you need to attend the Foundation session before attending the second Advanced session. Each session is 2-hours long. Dates and times below. The workshops will take place on Zoom.

Session 1: Foundation
In the foundation workshop we introduce some practical tools for building resilience, learn about activist burnout, and explore our inner experiences.

Session 2: Advanced
In the second workshop we’ll go deeper, encountering some of our blockages and struggles, and working with them as we gain awareness and strength. Attendees will also gain access to ongoing monthly support spaces.

Both facilitators have been intensely involved in Extinction Rebellion, and we’ve both moved through various stages of burnout. We’ve had the experiences. And we’ve even been enriched by them!

Stuart Basden is in his fifth year of training in process-oriented Worldwork group facilitation. He is a co-founder of Extinction Rebellion, has been arrested a dozen times for civil disobedience, and been to prison once. Stuart initiated many of the XR working groups: Self-Organising System, People’s Assemblies/Future Democracy Hub, Consent Awareness, IT/Infrastructure, and coordinated many others. He’s a member of the Defend the Sacred Alliance.

Debbra Winton is a psychotherapist trained in psychosynthesis. She was the coordinator of Regenerative Cultures for XRUK for over a year. She has also coordinated Action Welling UK, safe guarding (“Don’t Panic”) during a rebellion, and Anchor Circle UK, and has experience in Conflict Facilitation.
This workshop is independently offered, in collaboration with XRUK Regenerative Cultures. Both facilitators offer their time to the Trained Emotional Support Network (TESN).
