On the Brink

30 November 2020
19:00 - 21:00

hosted by

Writers Rebel

Join us for an evening with writers and earth activists, Margaret Atwood, Amitav Ghosh, Lily Cole, Bianca Jagger and many others to raise awareness of animals at threat of extinction.

Over the coming decade over one million species face extinction.

It is estimated that 200 species go extinct every day.

We can remain silent or we can lend our voices however best we can to try to save them.

We have 20 writers and cultural figures reading new work and speaking to specific animals at threat from extinction.

You’ll hear from:

Homero Aridjis on the Vaquita porpoise
Margaret Atwood on the Tasmanian devil
Taiwanese artist Wu Ming-Yi on the pangolin
Judy Ling Wong on the snow leopard
Amitav Ghosh on the Irrawaddy dolphin
Lily Cole on the Rusty Patched Bumble Bee

As well as Ben Okri, Nana Oforiatta Ayim, Bianca Jagger, Prerna Singh Bindra, Lydia Millet, Sangu Iyer, Laura Jean McKay, Laura Coleman, Martin Creed with their chosen animal yet to be revealed.

Mya-Rose Craig aka ‘BirdGirlUK’, David Lindo the Urban Birder, Erica McAlister, ‘Flygirl,’ and Gillian Burke will be our hosts for the evening.

Artists are invited to create and share images of endangered species and extinct creatures for Remembrance Day for Lost Species. Post your images to social media with the hashtag #OnTheBrink
