Last year XR put the climate crisis in the headlines and brought thousands of ordinary people onto the streets in acts of civil disobedience and direct action – grandparents, doctors, scientists, electricians, taking to the streets to demand the fundamental changes we need to see in the world.

We’ve raised the alarm, and yet the need to rebel is greater than ever. Our rebellion must become broader and deeper, it must evolve and grow.

In September, we will return to the streets. However, the circumstances are drastically different this time. We need to be brave and determined, but also flexible in order to respond to this moment.

Local groups and affinity groups are encouraged to organise their own actions across the bank holiday weekend. This includes banner drops on the 28th of August around the region, and other local events the over the bank holiday weekend.

On 1st September we will gather as a region in Manchester at 10am, in St Peter’s Square Manchester, for a full day of Rebellion, followed by smaller actions the rest of the week.
