Extinction Rebellion Greenwich

10:15am Sat 25th July

Extinction Rebellion groups from all over London are joining XR Greenwich on Saturday at the site of the road the mayor plans to build to tell Sadiq Khan to cancel his new Toxic Tunnel.

Preparatory work has now started on the Silvertown Tunnel, a new motorway underneath the Thames bringing juggernauts to City Airport and Canary Wharf through some of the most polluted and deprived areas of the country. Newham is home to 72% BAME population and less than 50% of households own a car: building this road is a racist, colonising, unjust policy.

We will walk in a procession to grieve the 26 who die every day in this beautiful city from the air pollution that literally takes our breath away. We will not be silent. The sound of drums and wailing will be heard across the river and our song will ring out in righteous truth the folly and corruption of this toxic tunnel.

Join our procession to the riverside where we will bear witness to the drilling platform in the middle of our river which is preparing the way for the destruction and death to come.
