?Listening partnerships: a space to share, be heard and to heal?

Parenting is intense work, and even more so during these times, when many of us are experiencing deep feelings of grief, sadness, anxiety (and more!) related to the climate and ecological crisis. If we don’t have space to talk about the way we feel, it impacts not only on our mental health, but also on the way we parent, making it difficult for us to be patient, and to accept our children’s own emotions.
A listening partnership is an exchange of supportive listening time between parents. This approach was developed by the parenting support organisation ‘Hand in Hand Parenting’ and is a safe and confidential space for you to express your feelings, to make sense of your experiences and let go of difficult emotions, whist being listened to with warmth and respect, and without judgement. This is a powerful opportunity for us to look after ourselves, to learn, and do the healing work that allows us to be the best parents we can be.
