About the speaker, John Wood:
John used to think he was fairly well informed about what is going on with the ecology and climate of our planet but early in 2019, he became shocked by how wrong he was. He was galvanized into looking for opportunities to help others to become better informed. There is growing acceptance that there is some kind of problem with the ecology and climate but for many, this does not yet look or feel like an emergency or priority. We are accelerating towards a future where the air, food and water needed for survival, irrespective of who we are or where we live in the world, is increasingly at risk. This risk has been well understood, documented and debated for 3 decades but all conventional means to raise the profile of this risk have not only failed, the trajectory towards potential catastrophe continues to worsen and the window of opportunity to reduce the risk is drawing to a close. John is a family man, living and working in Southampton who is passionate about our planet.
