On the same date as the Tufton Three are on trial in a court of law, we are going to turn the tables and put denialists themselves in the spotlight.
On the eve of COP, XR cofounder Clare Farrell, Professor Rupert Read, and Writers Rebel cofounder Jessica Townsend will be tried in City Magistrates Court. And that night we will set up a space to look at the culpable actions of the world’s big climate denialists, which may result in the deaths of billions and yet for the most part are entirely legal. It will be curated by one of the top UK theatre directors and may well be our most special event yet.
This will be the culmination of a month of events and journalist’s pieces to draw attention to what is going on. As the UK hurtles towards COP26 in November, a small group of think tanks with their collaborators in Government, parliament and the press have set themselves against the carbon net zero plans essential to fulfil the Paris Agreement and our international obligations. Denial On Trial plans to draw attention to these groups and their work at this critical time.
