Film screening of The Age of Stupid and Q&A with director & producer on the power of film to catalyse direct climate & social justice action

XR Islington and XR Sheffield present a special screening of climate change hybrid documentary ‘The Age of Stupid’ followed by a Q&A with the team behind this groundbreaking production.

Join us on Sunday June 21st @ 18:00 as we take a journey through the powerful post-apocalyptic film, including a couple of others that the duo have made – its short sequel ‘What If…’ and the pilot for their new upcoming production ’10 Years To Net Zero’, featuring political satirist and comedian Jonathan Pie.

‘The Age of Stupid’ is a stark eye-opener and an urgent call to action, to save humanity from its darkest hour. Starring the late Pete Postlethwaite as the last remaining survivor on Earth, he looks back to 2009 for an explanation of why we destroyed our home when we still had the time to act on. Today in 2020, his message rings more true than ever as we witness the devastating impacts of Climate Breakdown on our natural environment and the people depending on it, whilst scientists are urging us that we are running out of time.

To round it all off we will have a Q&A at 20:30 where director Franny Armstrong and producer Lizzie Gillett from Spanner Films will talk to us about their films, the impact they have had after their release and will inspire us on how to use films as a powerful tool for direct action on the climate and social crises. We will also be joined on the panel by Film Strike For Climate

We believe this is a great opportunity to bring Extinction Rebellion activists and the broader community together, stir imaginations and empower us to build a true movement of movements in the fight against time to mitigate the Climate and Ecological Emergency. Everything that we have ever achieved has been imagined by someone first.

Let’s imagine and build a fairer, greener and healthier future, together! Before it’s too late.

Love & Vision,
XR Islington & XR Sheffield
