An Extinction Rebellion Affinity Group (AG) is a group of people who support each other to take action.

The word “action” can mean many things: stewarding, phone banking, coordinating, gluing on / sitting in the road, cooking food, outreach, wellbeing, and so on and so on…

The ‘affinity’ part could mean anything that unites the group – this could be where you’re from, what you care about, what kind of actions you’re interested in or it could just be that you like each other and want to make a difference together. It’s crucial that those people willing to take risks are properly supported through this experience, so not everyone in an AG needs to make that commitment. But XR is its AGs and what we do is NVDA (Non-Violent Direct Action).

Through a series of explanations and fun exercises, including ‘pub quiz’ questions and fantasy action design, this workshop will teach you more about affinity groups, and help you form groups to take action together.

Those already in AGs or local groups that want to join another group or just learn more about AGs and how they function are also welcome.
